Interest in L7m’s bold, expressive work continues to gain international attention. Much of his work is found on the street, where he creates large scale glimpses of nature in response to both the beauty and surrounding chaos he sees. His colorful palette and powerful, sweeping strokes electrify the urban environment.

For his third solo exhibition with C.A.V.E. Gallery, L7m has created 8 new canvases that strikingly capture the expressive energy and softer realism that L7m is known for. His swirling forms cradle realistic imagery – articulating the beauty of life emerging from urban disarray.

L7m was born in the countryside of São Paulo, Brazil in 1988, and is one of São Paulo’s most prolific and unique street artists. From an early age he realized his connection to art. At 13 years old, he had his first experience painting with aerosol, which opened his eyes to the endless possibilities of experimenting with new techniques. From that point on, L7m began challenging himself with various mediums by mixing aerosol with china ink, latex, pastel and acrylic. He also continues to push boundaries with his style – creating work with a captivating pulse and dynamic edge.

Throughout his artistic career, Jim Darling has always challenged himself conceptually and with various media – executing his ideas through intricate paintings and drawings, layered woodwork and freestanding sculpture.

“Departure” is the artist’s third exhibition with C.A.V.E. Gallery. For this new collection, Darling continues to explore the beauty of fluid landscapes – creating captivating abstractions of aerial views of the patterned earth below.

Close attention to the work reveals the artist’s fascinating unique and skilled technique. The fluid layering of paint is created with a rigorous process, yet appears subtle and organic. The views are wonderfully dynamic. Each time the viewer explores Darling’s work, one will discover interesting nuances. The paintings inspire the imagination as one peers onto the playful and mesmerizing vistas.

Darling grew up in the suburbs of Dallas where he spent his time at the creek making forts and exploring. When he wasn’t climbing out the window, he was usually drawing. As a junior in high school, Darling took his first art class and realized art school was where he wanted to be. He received his BFA in graphic design from Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design in Denver, where he met his wife Tina, whom he collaborates with often and is a father of two.
